About Us
Our Story
Similar to the protective embrace of Thimble Islands and their sheltering channels for boats during storms, we offer our clients an entrusting hand to navigate their financial voyage with confidence. The resilient pink granite that makes up these islands can also be found in some of our nation's most iconic landmarks, such as the Statue of Liberty and the Smithsonian. It symbolizes strength and resilience, reflecting the essence of our region and our firm: steadfast, enduring, and deeply connected to its roots.
Our lineage extends back to the 1960s when our founding partners started this firm in New Haven County. By establishing a process for helping families navigate their financial lives based on long-term goals and planning, they laid the foundation for the work we do today. Now retired, Bill DeMayo and David Etzel have passed the torch to those of us who were fortunate enough to learn from them.
Having served this community for more than 50 years, we are proudly serving third and fourth-generation clients. Our team has expanded over the years, but we stay grounded in those legacy values while offering clients fresh insights and perspectives. We believe it’s the best of both worlds.
Our Mission
Wealth management is always evolving, but it doesn’t have to be complicated. Our mission is to simplify your life by staying on top of the latest information, suggesting straightforward strategies that make sense for you, and organizing your finances so important documents are accessible when you need them. At the end of the day, our hope is that you’ll breathe a little easier knowing your finances are in order and that we’re here for whatever you need.
Our Clients
We help individuals, multi-generational families, and businesses organize their finances and plan for the future. Wealth management is a dynamic process and each situation is unique, so we create custom plans that are designed to evolve in the face of life’s uncertainties.
Our Approach
We believe in a holistic, dynamic approach to wealth management that can evolve in the face of life's uncertainties while staying firmly rooted in your goals. Each situation is unique, but we follow these three basic steps:
1. Comprehensive Financial Planning
To create the foundation of your plan, we start by identifying your goals and what’s most important to you. There is a lot of back-and-forth at this stage to make sure we consider every aspect of your life. We find this level of collaboration more meaningful than a standard risk tolerance questionnaire.
2. Personal Investment Policy
Once your plan is in place, we develop a personal investment policy to help you stick with it so you’re consistently working toward your goals. This includes setting acceptable ranges for each asset class in your portfolio.
3. Implementation & Review
We’ll handle the management based on your plan and investment policy, then set a review schedule where we revisit your plan together because priorities shift over time. When changes are needed, we’ll discuss your options and make those adjustments.
